Turkey is said – according to Israeli sources – to have played a decisive role in preventing three assassination attempts against Syrian President Ahmed Al-Sharaa. This information, which comes from Israeli media, attributes a “savior” role to Turkish security forces.
First attempt: Secret intervention outside the presidential palace According to reports, the first assassination attempt took place last March, as Ahmed Al-Sharaa was leaving the presidential palace in Damascus and was foiled by Turkish security forces who identified the suspect. Reports claiming that the suspect was arrested and interrogated also suggest that the assassination attempt was kept secret from the public at Al-Sharaa’s request.
Second Attempt: Reroute in Daraa The second attempt reportedly occurred during the Syrian president’s visit to the city of Daraa, near the Jordanian border. Syrian and Turkish security forces in Al-Sharaa’s convoy spotted the two suspects and rerouted the convoy, allowing Al-Sharaa to escape this assassination attempt.
The third attempt, according to the same reports, is considered the most dangerous, but its details remain unknown. The assassination attempt took place while Al-Saraa was on his way to the presidential palace. Shadow of the Islamic State behind the attacks Despite the seriousness of the incidents, no organization has officially claimed responsibility. However, the same Israeli reports leave clear hints about the role of the Islamic State.
The reports stated that no one had claimed responsibility for the assassination attempts and that they were believed to have been orchestrated by the terrorist organization ISIS.
