 "Israeli warplanes struck areas in and around the Syrian capital Sunday, setting off a series of explosions as they targeted a shipment of highly accurate, Iranian-made guided missiles believed to be bound for Lebanon's Hezbollah militant group, officials and activists said. The attack, the second in three days and the third this year, signaled a sharp escalation of Israel's involvement in Syria's bloody civil war.  "SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA –  North Korea on Sunday revealed a few more details about a Korean-American recently sentenced to 15 years' hard labor, saying he entered the country with a disguised identity. Pyongyang also rejected speculation that it intends to use Kenneth Bae as a bargaining chip. In remarks carried by state media, an unidentified Foreign Ministry spokesman did not specify the Washington state man's crimes but said he confessed. He said Bae entered North Korea "with a disguised identity in an intentional way under the back-stage manipulation of the forces hostile toward" the country."

Channel 4 News - Israel 'hits Syria again'. May 05, 2013


"Columns of fire were seen lighting up the sky after a series of blasts over several hours in locations around the Syrian capital. One eyewitness said: "Night turned into day". Israel made no official comment but Syria accused the Jewish state of striking the Jamrya military facility north of Damascus, which was hit by Israeli jets three months ago. If confirmed, the attack would be the second major operation in Syria within three days. Video footage uploaded onto the Internet by anti-Assad activists showed a series of explosions. One lit up the skyline of Damascus while another sent up a tower of flames and secondary blasts."

"A recreational league soccer referee who was critically injured and in a coma after being punched by a teenage player during a game died last night, US police said. Ricardo Portillo, 46, died at the hospital where he was being treated following an assault during a soccer game last weekend, police spokesman Justin Hoyal said. Police have accused a 17-year-old player in a recreational soccer league of punching Mr Portillo after the man called a foul on him and issued him with a yellow card. “The suspect was close to Portillo and punched him once in the face as a result of the call,” Mr Hoyal said in a press release. The teenager has been booked into juvenile detention on suspicion of aggravated assault."

Alarabiya - Israeli missile strike hits Damascus, Syrian state media reports , May 05, 2013


 "Syria's residents were startled by heavy blasts that shook Damascus early Sunday when Israeli rockets targeted a military research center in the capital’s suburbs, Syrian state television reported.  The TV reported the explosions that rocked Jamraya were caused by an Israeli missile strike on the research center that took place at 1:56 a.m. local time. “Everything was quiet and suddenly we saw this bright orange light in the sky followed by a very loud explosion,” said Tarek Hillnawi, a Damascus resident who was sitting on his balcony chatting with his friends when the blast occurred.“I felt that it was over for us, that all of Damascus is set on fire.” According to Reuters, a western intelligence source said on Sunday that the overnight attack targeted a missile shipment that was “in transit” from Iran to Hezbollah."
