KABUL | Tue Jun 28, 2011 3:23pm EDT
(Reuters) - Two suicide bombers attacked a major hotel frequented by Westerners in Afghanistan's capital of Kabul late Tuesday, a police source said, and a Reuters witness said gunfire was heard for several minutes after one blast.

Consumers International Blog: Vive la France – up to a point, Jun 28, 2011

As a lifelong Francophile, my mother would have been proud to witness my participation in the meeting on 9 June of the French Consultative Committee on the Financial Sector (CCSF), which took place in the ‘gilded gallery’ of the Banque de France.

The invitation was to hear CI’s views on the G20 process regarding consumer protection in Financial Services (FS), which has been running through 2011 and is now reaching its public consultation phase. (So expect frequent bombardments by blog in the coming weeks).

Libya, Moammar Kadafi: Arrest warrant for Moammar Kadafi may complicate Libya situation - latimes.com

Moammar Kadafi
Libyan leader Moammar Kadafi, seen in an image taken from TV this month. (Associated Press /May 11, 2011)
By Henry Chu, Los Angeles Times
Reporting from London—
The international arrest warrant for crimes against humanity issued against Moammar Kadafi and members of his family has further isolated the Libyan leader, but may also increase his determination to fight on rather than relinquish power or seek sanctuary outside the country.
With the military standoff between NATO-led and pro-Kadafi forces surpassing 100 days, theInternational Criminal Court in The Hague on Monday named Kadafi, his son and brother-in-law as wanted men. The court alleged that the leaders ordered or encouraged their forces to gun down and imprison hundreds of Libyan civilians in the early days of the antigovernment uprising that broke out in February.
