IMPACTLAB - Latest Trend: Making Dogs look like Pandas and Tigers, Jun 19, 2010
This is so bizarre I don’t know what to say. Reports in the British press are showing stories about dogs being dyed in China to look like giant pandas and tigers. At first, I didn’t believe it when I saw it yesterday, but now more photos are circulating.
Many people dress up their dogs for Halloween or for other holidays (we’ve done photo galleries actually of dogs dressed to the nines), and those have brought complaints from readers.
I always thought it was harmless, especially for the terrier Hattie Mae that loves her new outfits and is at the end of this pet photo gallery. She’s smiling.
But this seems so over the top and maybe even dangerous to me (dye around the eyes?). I would love to know what they’re thinking. Any ideas?
