HAARETZ - Putin denies S-300 missile system has already been sent to Syria, Jun 04, 2013

S-300

"Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday defended Moscow's arms sales to the Syrian government, but denied that the advanced S-300 systems had already been delivered. Putin told a news conference after a summit with European Union leaders that Russia did not want to upset the military balance in the region and all its arms sales to Syria were inline with international law. The president's remarks confirm a Russian newspaper report last Friday that Moscow was set to deliver the first shipment of S-300 air defense missiles to President Bashar Assad's regime in 2014. The confusion comes after Assad told Hezbollah's Al-Manar television station in an interview last Thursday that his regime had already received the first shipment."

EW - Angelina Jolie goes back to black for her return to the red carpet, Jun 03, 2013

Angelina-Jolie.jpg
"Angelina Jolie walked the red carpet in support of fiance Brad Pitt at the world premiere of World War Z in London yesterday, making her first public appearance since undergoing a double mastectomy last February. Asked by one reporter how it felt to be back on the red carpet, Jolie expressed gratitude for the support she has received since revealing the news in a New York Times column last month, but did her best to steer the conversation back to Pitt. ”It’s Brad’s night… I’m very excited for Brad and I think  it’s a very fun film. And my boys are around somewhere tonight, so they’re enjoying it,” the actress told Sky News. Asked how Pitt has supported her through her ordeal, Jolie replied: “He’s been extraordinary. He’s a wonderful man and a wonderful father, and I’m very, very lucky.”"

BALTIMORE Sun - Supreme Court authorizes post-arrest DNA collection, Jun 03, 2013

U.S. Supreme Court

"The U.S. Supreme Court says police may collect DNA samples without a warrant from individuals charged with — but not convicted of — violent crimes, in an opinion released Monday that overturns a ruling by Maryland's highest court. The 5-4 decision upheld the law that authorizes police in Maryland, the federal government and about half the states to continue collecting the genetic information. The sharply divided ruling stems from a Maryland case in which a Worcester County man, Alonzo King, was linked to a rape after his DNA was taken in an unrelated arrest. Justice Anthony Kennedy, writing for the majority, said DNA collection was a legitimate arrest procedure akin to fingerprinting and photographing and used for the purpose of identifying suspects."
