 "A huge clean-up has been launched in the Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon after 65 tonnes of dead fish filled the waters which are set to play host to the 2016 Olympic rowing events. The lagoon, authorities say, became deoxygenated after heavy storms, which washed ‘a large amount of organic matter’ into the lake. The clean-up is still underway, and is not the first time that the lagoon has suffered such misfortune. In 2009 an estimated 100 tonnes of dead fish, predominantly shad, had to be removed from the waters after a similar incident. As you can see from the picture above, taken during the Pan-Am Games in 2007, the lagoon hosted rowing successfully."

 "Washington: An antibiotic used to treat common infections may carry serious heart risks, scientists have warned. The drug, called azithromycin but sold under the brand names Zithromax and Zmax as Z-Pak capsules, is prescribed for infections of the ears, lungs, sinuses, skin, throat, and reproductive organs, according to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). But the antibiotic can interfere with the heart`s electrical activity, disturbing its rhythm with potentially fatal consequences, ABC News reported."

 "Dwight Howard endured the worst reception of his NBA career on Tuesday night. He then promptly turned in probably his best performance of this season. Howard scored a season-high 39 points, had 16 rebounds and was sent to the free-throw line 39 times by his former team as the Los Angeles Lakers beat the Orlando Magic 106-97. The victory came in Howard's first return to Orlando since his drama-filled off-season trade to the Lakers. He endured a chorus of boos throughout, and tied his own NBA record for free-throw attempts. The majority of them came as the Magic tried to employ an intentional-foul strategy. It backfired, though, as the all-star centre hit on 16-of-20 attempts in the second half. It silenced his detractors and, more importantly, helped the Lakers secure their fourth straight victory and keep from slipping in their playoff chase."

Greek Saves 3 Turks From German Blaze, Mar 12, 2013

 "According to Hurriyet Daily News, a Greek man managed to save three people after being the first to notice a fire that killed eight Turks in Germany on March 10. Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Bekir Bozdağ said that, “A Greek citizen saw the fire around 4:30 a.m. when it was first sparked and called the police and the fire department. He then stepped into the fire and saved three people, the grandmother and two children,” Bozdağ stated. The hero, Christos Kiroglou, is the manager of a nightclub located at the back of the building where the blaze occurred. The fire which swept through an apartment building in southwestern Germany, killed seven children and a mother from a Turkish family who had migrated to Backnang, near Stuttgart, from the southeastern Turkish province of Adıyaman, the newspaper said."
