China halts some overland tourism to North Korea-travel agencies, Apr 10, 2013

"(Reuters) - Some Chinese tour operators have halted travel to North Korea at the behest of local authorities and because of rising safety concerns as Pyongyang whips up war rhetoric following weeks of tension on the Korean peninsula. Authorities in the northeastern city of Dandong have told tour agencies to halt overland tourism into North Korea, local travel agents said on Wednesday.   "There were tourists that were planning to go there today, but then we received the notification, so they've all gone back home," said an employee of Dandong China International Travel Service, who asked not to be named. Five other travel agencies confirmed they had stopped tours that use the land border crossing into North Korea at Dandong. One cited a notice from the government tourism bureau in Dandong."

DAILY STAR - Lohan tells Letterman rehab is a 'blessing', Apr 10, 2013

"LOS ANGELES: Lindsay Lohan is going into rehab next month, but first she had to face TV talk show host David Letterman. In an appearance taped for Tuesday's "Late Show," Lohan was pressed by Letterman about her upcoming rehab stint. She faces a 90-day stay as part of a plea deal in a misdemeanor traffic accident case. Letterman tried to draw Lohan out, asking how many times she'd been in rehab, how this time would differ, and what she's being treated for. Lohan looked uncomfortable and said she didn't expect Letterman's line of questioning. But she said that she wants to be healthy and focus on what she loves - her work. She added that she looks at rehab as "a blessing and not a curse.""Alexander Language Schools, Franchise Alexander Language Schools info@als-alexander.org or interalex1@yahoo.com Products and Services

BUSINESS LINE - Mars missing most of its atmosphere: NASA, Apr 9, 2013

This image shows the first holes into rock drilled by NASA's Mars rover Curiosity, with drill tailings around the holes plus piles of powdered rock collected from the deeper hole and later discarded after other portions of the sample had been delivered to analytical instruments inside the rover. Image credit: NASA
"WASHINGTON, APRIL 9:   Mars may have lost much of its original atmosphere, but the remaining atmosphere on the Red planet is still quite active, findings from NASA’s Curiosity rover indicate. Evidence has strengthened this that Mars lost much of its original atmosphere by a process of gas escaping from the top of the atmosphere, NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, California, said in a statement. Curiosity’s Sample Analysis at Mars (SAM) instrument analysed an atmosphere sample last week using a process that concentrates selected gases. The results provided the most precise measurements ever made of isotopes of argon in the Martian atmosphere. “We found arguably the clearest and most robust signature of atmospheric loss on Mars,” said Sushil Atreya, a SAM co-investigator at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor."

BBC News - Margaret Thatcher: An inspiration to artists?, Apr 09, 2013

Margaret Thatcher
"We see an elderly and confused Baroness Thatcher in an inner-city supermarket, circa 2011. She is buying a carton of milk. As she walks toward the counter, a brash, middle-aged businessman rudely cuts in front of her. He is on the phone, haggling over a deal, oblivious to his surroundings. As he leaves and she takes her place at the counter, a young man in a rush queues behind her. "

PERTH NOW - Japan deploys Patriot missile interceptors around Tokyo to counter North Korean nuclear threat, Apr 09, 2013

Japan North Korea
"JAPAN has announced it is deploying Patriot missile interceptors around Tokyo as a precaution against North Korea's nuclear threats. Share on email Share on twitter Share on facebook Share on google_plusone_share Share on linkedin The Patriot missiles - an advanced version of the interceptor of Gulf War fame - are being moved to key locations around Japan's capital city, including the defense ministry headquarters. Other key military bases on the Japanese mainland are also taking similar precautionary measures, reports indicate. Japan's defense minister has also reportedly put destroyers with missile interception systems on alert in the Sea of Japan. Japan purchased the PAC-3 version of the Patriot missile launchers from the United States during the past decade to face just such a threat. While it has never attempted to shoot down North Korean ballistic missile tests which passed over its territory in the past, the military deployment suggests Japan is not taking any risks ahead of a possible missile launch by the rogue state."

THE GUARDIAN - Margaret Thatcher: tributes pour in for groundbreaking but divisive leader, Apr 09, 2013

Margaret Thatcher in 1982.
"Lady Thatcher, Britain's first female prime minister and among the most influential and divisive political leaders the country has ever seen, died on Monday at the age of 87 after suffering a severe stroke. The former Conservative leader had been in ill health for more than a decade, and was staying in a suite at the Ritz hotel in London while recuperating from a minor operation. David Cameron, who was in Madrid on a European tour, immediately returned to Britain to announce parliament was being recalled from its Easter recess, describing her as Britain's "patriot prime minister"."
