CHICAGO TRIBUNE - Obamacare is on the horizon, but will enough people sign up? May 05, 2013
"WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Healthcare reform should be the signature Democratic achievement of President Barack Obama's presidency. But with "Obamacare" five months from show time, Democrats are worried about whether enough Americans will sign up to make the sweeping healthcare overhaul a success - and what failure might mean for Congress heading into the 2016 presidential race. Some of the law's main advocates fear that not enough of America's 49 million uninsured will know about health coverage offered in their own states. Even if they do, new insurance plans may not be attractive to young, healthy consumers needed to offset an expected influx of older and sicker patients."

Egypt condemns Israeli airstrikes against Syria, May 05, 2013
"CAIRO - (AP) -- Egypt's president has condemned Israel's airstrikes against Syria, calling them a violation of international law and warning they complicate the ongoing civil war in that country. Sunday's statement Sunday from President Mohammed Morsi's office says Egypt "strongly objects" to the bloodshed and the use of Syria's military against its people. But it also rejects the violation of Syrian sovereignty and "exploiting its internal crisis under whatever pretext." It says the Israeli attacks "increase the complexity of the situation." Egypt launched an Arab bid to bring a peaceful end to the 2-year-old civil war that pits President Bashar Assad against rebels trying to oust him, but little came of it. Morsi's office says the Israeli attacks are a "real test" for the international community's commitment to respecting international law. Copyright 2013 The Associated Press. All rights reserved. The attack, the second in three days and the third this year, signaled a sharp escalation of Israel's involvement in Syria's bloody civil war. Syrian state media reported that Israeli missiles struck a military and scientific research center near Damascus and caused casualties." info@als-alexander.org or interalex1@yahoo.com
Fox News - North Korea says detained American disguised his identity, May 05, 2013
"SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA – North Korea on Sunday revealed a few more details about a Korean-American recently sentenced to 15 years' hard labor, saying he entered the country with a disguised identity. Pyongyang also rejected speculation that it intends to use Kenneth Bae as a bargaining chip. In remarks carried by state media, an unidentified Foreign Ministry spokesman did not specify the Washington state man's crimes but said he confessed. He said Bae entered North Korea "with a disguised identity in an intentional way under the back-stage manipulation of the forces hostile toward" the country."
