COSTAS KARRAS, Greek Actor Dies, May 06, 2012


ATHENS, Greece—Costas Karras, a popular actor and former conservative politician, died Sunday in Athens of complications from cancer, his family announced. He was 75.
Although Karras became popular as a cinematic actor, it was on stage that he achieved critical acclaim, most notably in Nikolai Gogol's monologue "Diary of a Madman" and Noel Coward's play "Blithe Spirit."
Born on June 21, 1936, Karras went to London in the 1950s to study political science, but graduated from the Royal Academy of Arts. He also studied theater in Greece and debuted on stage in 1963.
Karras also served as a conservative member of Parliament from 2000 to 2007. He is survived by his wife and a son.

GREEK REPORTER - Former First Lady of Greece Marika Mitsotakis Dies at 82, May 06, 2012


"Marika Mitsotakis, wife of Konstantinos Mitotakis, former Greek Prime Minister and honorary President of the New Democracy political party of Greece, died in the first morning hours, on Sunday May 6th, in Athens.
The 82-year-old woman who was suffering from a viral disease called Poliomelitis was hospitalized at the Evgenidion Hospital since April 17. Members of her family, including her husband and children, had been visiting the hospital all these days.
Marika is the mother of four children, including Dora Bakoyannis, president of Democratic Alliance party, and New Democracy MP Kyriakos Mitsotakis. She has also 13 grandchildren. Marika has had issues with a walking disability after contracting polyomielitis in a swimming pool at the age of 17."
