After the death of Stephen Hawking, there remains an unknown, since the priest Lemaître developed most of it and Hawking was just one more who expanded the theory. Why do they say that Hawking created the Big Bang theory?

Neither the British Stephen Hawking nor the Belgian Georges Lemaître  they were the original proponents of the Big Bang cosmological model. The first person to find that Einstein's equations had an expanding solution that could fit observations was the Russian Alexander Friedmann.in 1922. It is true that Lemaître was an enthusiast of the theory and greatly popularized it. None of them named him, that honor fell to one of his main detractors, the British astronomer Fred Hoyle. , which by calling the model a “big firecracker” actually intended to demonstrate it disparagingly.

Stephen Hawking did not even make fundamental contributions to the model, Hawking's work first revolved around the classical singularity theorems related to black holes. Later, he explored aspect of quantum gravity around black holes and there he made his most recognized contributions.
