This week the United States passed historic rules that will help millions of people lift themselves out of extreme poverty. Europe is also preparing such laws, but these are hanging in the balance ahead of a crucial vote. Some of the world’s biggest companies are lobbying hard to maintain the secrecy that allows corrupt officials to profit from the sale of natural resources, instead of investing in vital services like schools, roads and hospitals that would benefit all their citizens.
Right now a group of key politicians has the opportunity to stand up to this. We need them to do the right thing.
Please send them a clear message that you will be watching how they vote:
If enough of us tell them we are watching, we will shine a powerful spotlight on them and make sure they become champions for the world’s poorest people.
