Bear hunters bag nearly 600 bruins in weeklong hunt
FREDON — The final day of the state's bear hunt brought more than 160 protesters to the Whittingham Wildlife Management Area, where a handful of hunters brought their kills to be weighed and measured.
The weeklong hunt, allowed by the state to manage the estimated population of 3,400 bears in northwestern New Jersey, saw 562 bears killed through early Saturday evening, state Department of Fish and Wildlife spokesman Larry Ragonese said.

RAMADI, Iraq, Dec. 12 (Xinhua) -- At least 17 people were killed and 23 others wounded in a suicide car bomb attack and a car bomb explosion outside Anbar provincial government offices on Sunday, a local police source said.
The two blasts occurred almost simultaneously at about 10:15 a. m. (0715 GMT) when a suicide bomber drove a four-wheel vehicle packed with explosives to the entrance of the complex of Anbar government in central area of the provincial capital city Ramadi, killing seven, including policemen, and wounding nine others, a source from the provincial operations command told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
