ABC News (Australia) - Dozens dead after huge Iranian quake shakes Middle East, Asia, Apr 16, 2013

Karachi, Pakistan
"The US Geological Survey says the epicentre of the magnitude 7.8 quake was 86 kilometres from the city of Iranian Khash, near the border with Pakistan. It killed at least 35 people in neighbouring Pakistan, destroying hundreds of houses and shaking buildings as far away as India and Gulf Arab states. Search and rescue efforts are now underway in the sparsely-populated desert and mountain region. An Iranian provincial governor said there are no reports of deaths in Iran so far, but there were reports that 27 people had been injured. Communications to the area have been cut which is making it difficult for authorities to assess the number of casualties"

OBAMA: Boston attack 'an act of terrorism', Apr 16, 2013

obama16
"President Obama said Tuesday the FBI is investigating the Boston Marathon bombings as an "act of terrorism," but the perpetrators and motives remain a mystery. "What we don't yet know, however, is who carried out this attack or why, whether it was planned and executed by a terrorist organization, foreign or domestic, or was the act of a malevolent individual," Obama said in brief remarks at the White House. "Clearly, we're at the beginning of our investigation," Obama said. "It will take time to follow every lead and determine what happened, but we will find out. We will find whoever harmed our citizens, and we will bring them to justice.""

TTP deny Boston Marathon blasts, Apr 16, 2013

"We believe in attacking US and its allies but we are not involved in this attack,” Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) spokesman Ehsanullah Ehsan told the media. “We have no connection to this bombing but we will continue to target them wherever possible,” Ehsan added. Monday’s explosions at the Boston Marathon, one of America’s top sporting events, forced cities from New York to Los Angeles to go on high alert and conjured up memories of the September 11, 2001 attacks."
