A woman reads names inscribed on the cenotaph in Peace Memorial Park in the city of Itoman on Wednesday, the 65th anniversary of the end of the Battle of Okinawa. Prime Minister Naoto Kan also visited the site and offered an apology for the burden people in the prefecture bear for hosting U.S. bases he called critical for regional security.
