Pope Benedict XVI canonises Australia's first saint

VATICAN CITY: Pope Benedict XVI formally recognised Australia's first saint, Mary MacKillop, at a mass in Saint Peter's Square in the Vatican on Sunday in front of some 50,000 cheering pilgrims.
Speaking in Latin, the pope also canonised Canada's Brother Andre and four other saints from Italy, Poland and Spain and declared that "throughout the Church they be honoured devoutly among all the saints."
