"Foreign trade agreements have historically put agricultural profits above everything else. Unfortunately this has come at the cost of animal welfare. The newest agreement -- the Transatlantic Trade & Investment Partnership (TTIP) -- is designed to expand the EU and US agricultural markets. However, the agreement completely disregards animal welfare. Beef, pork, poultry, eggs, and dairy products come from sentient animals that can experience pain and suffering. Treating them like commodities is not acceptable."
