Lavan Island ( Persian: جزیرهٔ لاوان) (traditionally known as hidden pearl island or Sheikh Shoeyb island) is an Iranian island in the Persian Gulf. It has an area of 78 square kilometres (30 sq mi). The island has one of the four major terminals for export of crude oil in Iran alongside Kharg island.
Lavan is a vast island in the westernmost part of Hormozgan province and on the border of Bushehr province. The island is in the shape of an elongated oval with a length of about 23 km and a width of 5 km, which is known as one of the largest islands in the Persian Gulf. Lavan Island is located about 20 km from the port of Moqam.
Lavan Island is also known as the Hidden Pearl Island, which has long been home to pearl fishing. However, now the main occupation of the people of Lavan port is working in the oil and fishing industry. Lavan Island, with an area of 78 square kilometers, is now one of the most important oil export terminals in Iran.
Lavan Island is the third largest island in Iran after Qeshm and Kish in the Persian Gulf. The length of this island is 9 km and it extends from the west to the east. The island is seventy-five square kilometers. The island is 147 km (91 miles) far from the Lengeh Port and is approximately 20 km far from the port of Maqam.
