A new arsenic-based microorganism, bacterium GFAJ-1, discovered in California, Dec 06, 2010

A totally new holotes, a terrestrial existence (living creature) has been discovered.
A micro-organism (the bacter- ium GFAJ-1) having arsenic as one of its parts/elements of cellular structure, substituting for phosphorus , one of the “big six” (carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, sulfur and phosphor - us), was found along the shore of  Mono Lake, California, U.S.A. The new discovery made by a NASA fellow astrobiologist  Felisa Wolfe-Simon opens new ways  to the cognition of how life is formed, and to new and closest search for life on other planets and moons.
