Thirty seconds before the first performance at the first-ever Fringe, they hadn't sold a single ticket, and distinguished actor Gareth Armstrong was preparing to perform his one-man show
Shylock to an audience of none. "And then," according to Fringe founder and Director Steve Gove, "a guy ran up to us and said, 'Are there any tickets left?' We almost all kissed and hugged him at the same time!"
