Harrison Township, MI — An aerial stuntman fell 200 feet and died at the Selfridge Air National Guard Base air show on Sunday, August 21, 2011. The fatal stunt accident occurred around 1:30 p.m., while attempting an airplane-to-helicopter transfer stunt, as reported by Detroit News.
According to officials, the wing walker, Todd Green of Ann Arbor, was attempting the aerial stunt as he was trying to stand on the wing of a Stearman biplane. He was reportedly trying to grab onto the skid, or leg, of the helicopter, which was hovering above the plane. Green tried to grab the helicopter skid twice, before he fell on this third try.
Green reportedly had successfully performed the stunt on Saturday after five attempts.
