NY Daily News - David Ranta stablized after heart attack less than two days following release for wrongful imprisonment on 1990 killing of Brooklyn rabbi, Mar 24, 2013

Ranta, who spent more than two decades behind bars, was freed by a judge on Thursday after a reinvestigation of his case cast serious doubt on evidence used to convict him in the cold-blooded shooting of a Brooklyn rabbi.  "Less than 48 hours after his first taste of freedom in two decades, David Ranta suffered a serious heart attack and had to be rushed to the hospital, his lawyer said Saturday. Ranta, 58, was freed Thursday after serving 23 years for a murder he did not commit — and Friday night was admitted to a New York hospital in the grip of a crushing heart attack, lawyer Pierre Sussman told the Daily News."
