Teresa Lewis, who in 2002 stood by while her husband and stepson were brutally murdered as they slept, was executed thanks to a lethal cocktail of chemicals shortly after 9 p.m. at the Greensville Correctional Center in Jarratt, Va.

Franklin speaks out over assault on son
Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin is speaking out on the beating her adult son took from three men at a Detroit gas station this week.
Franklin said in a statement some early reports had some innaccuracies.
Franklin said through a public relations firm that Eddie Franklin underwent surgery after arriving at a hospital emergency room earlier this week. She said his jaw was wired shut.
Franklin also said her son's girlfriend gave the wrong location of the attack.
Pop idol Eddie Fisher dead
Eddie Fisher, whose huge fame as a pop singer was overshadowed by scandals ending his marriages to Debbie Reynolds and Elizabeth Taylor, has died. He was 85.
His daughter, Tricia Leigh Fisher, of Los Angeles, said Fisher died of complications from hip surgery at a hospital in BerkeleyBeckham to sue over allegations in US magazine
The company said in a statement the allegations in the weekly In Touch are "completely untrue and totally ridiculous as the magazine was clearly told before publication."
"Sadly we live in a world where a magazine can print lies and believe they can get away with it. We are taking legal action against the magazine," the statement said.

Gold surged to an all-time record high of $1,298 an ounce yesterday (Wednesday) after a U.S. Federal Reserve plan to jump-start the American economy triggered a slump in the U.S. dollar.
The yellow metal has now rallied for five straight trading sessions and is up about 18% for the year. Investors are waking up to the fact that the central bank's plan to use U.S. Treasury purchases as a means of injecting another $2.3 trillion into the U.S. economy is only going to further debase the greenback.
